Tangerine Tango

As Spring arrives we are seeing the color of the year pop up in the fashion industry.
Tangerine tango(Pantones's color of the year) was intermingled with white and more somber colors of khaki and brown and grey in the Spring line 2012 for Michael Kors.
I love this color! It is bright and invigorating and warms your soul after a long cold winter.
The fashion of Michael Kors warms my soul too! Casual yet sophisticated....... and great looks for cooler beach nights as well as hotter beach days.
That blondie with the sunglasses ,my son,  has already added this to his wardrobe and I think I will follow suit and pick up a few pieces to brighten my wardrobe.

Hooray for Tangerine Tango!

Seaside Interiors

As I was searching the web I came across some interior spaces that look amazingly beachy. It is from a store in Laguna Beach named appropriately Seaside Interiors. With 60% of their goods
being unique to this store I think you could find some beautiful things to fill your beach house. I
especially love the blue and white pillows and metal and wood coffee table. The table looks very sturdy and something my family would not destroy. I think I'll make a trip up there soon and check it out!

Hope you're having a fun-filled weekend,

Toni

Coastal Modern

I am looking forward to Tim Clarke's new book Coastal Modern.  It is due to be released in April. I believe it will contain 15 sophisticated homes with decor inspired by the ocean. I can never get enough of looking at beautiful modern homes filled with a beachy vibe. Some of his favorite items to include in a coastal home include: rope covered lamps for a nautical look, fossil shells on marble bases, rustic wide planked French oak flooring, white lacquered tables for dining, and of course shells.

Cheers to Coastal Modern Design,

Toni

Aussie Love Affair

As the weekend approaches, and a huge storm arriving tomorrow in Southern California, I thought I would venture to a place that brings me fabulous memories. My husband had the good fortune of moving to Australia as a teenager, to Whale Beach, a coastal town outside Sydney. As he only spent 3 years there, the impact Australia had on his life was immense. The love affair he and his family have had with Australia will never end..... I didn't really understand what all the hullabaloo was about
until I got to visit there a few years ago. As soon as I stepped off the plane and the people greeted
me, I knew something was different about this place. The people were so friendly and seemed carefree and had a casual elegance about themselves. The style and culture of Australia is lovely.
I now have the same love affair.

I dream of going back there some day to visit again(it is a very expensive trip!).Looking at houses in the area where we stayed, (Palm beach and Whale Beach) and are for sale right now, might be the next best
thing. They are certainly Beach Modern and I would feel right at home in any of them!

Lemon Twist

As summer is nearing, I feel the color yellow roaming in my mind. It is such a vibrant unusual
color. As Vincent Van Gogh said, "A color capable of charming God." I am seeing it in magazines in interiors and paint as in the latest Coastal Living as well as fashion, modern fabrics and food. The first picture posted is of a beach in Barcelona. Wow, what a beautiful site or sight whichever way  you prefer to look at it.
And then there is one of the greatest quotes I think you can live by - "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Cheers to Yellow!

Sand

Whale beach Sand Australia
Sandgrains.com

Hawaiian Honeymoon Sand
Over the years, I have collected beach sand. I have always been intriqued with the different
colors and sizes of the grains from the different parts of the world. I have sand from Australia,
Hawaii, and Blacks beach in So California. My husband is so sweet that he had a friend bring me back some sand from their trip to Tahiti. I hope to go there myself one day to walk on that sand.
it amazed me when I came across an article in the February issue of Coastal Living about a biomedical engineer Gary Greenberg who was also interested in sand.  When his brother sent him some sand from Hawaii, he put it under his microscope and found treasures beyond our imagination. Each grain is
different (like snowflakes) and reveals the origin og the coral ,shell and volcanic fragments.
he now blows these up for us to see and purchase on his website sandgrains.com. Check it out!
You will look at sand a little differently as you walk on it at your favorite coastal shore.

Happy Thursday,

Toni

March Birthday

It was my son's 13th birthday on Monday! I can't believe he is 13. After a leisurely day, we headed
down to the beach near our house in Cardiff.  He is an avid photographer and loves videography. He snapped a few coastal pics within a 20 minute time frame. What a beautiful sunset! We had the sun setting on the west and the moon rising on the east. I've never seen it so beautiful in such a short amount of time.

We finished the day with shopping for and eating lobster,(his favorite food) which we have maybe once a year. Fortunate for us it was on sale at Seaside Market, our wonderful local grocery store. I guess it was a great day because he said it was his favorite birthday yet!

Oh to be 13 again!

Cheers!

Nemberala Resort

Everyone needs a little island getaway. The Nemberala Beach Resort is a true island getaway.
It is truly a magical place. The only reason I know this is that my daughter and son-in-law spent their honeymoon there and filmed the island and the resort. You'll experience beautiful sunsets, great surf, comfortable accomodations. "The people are wonderful." The resort is located on an island of Indonesia, Roti. It takes awhile to get there going through Bali and then a ferry, but well worth the trip to really get away. A massage on a beautiful island sounds heavenly today. We are planning a trip there next year. Hope to see you there!

To a life by the Sea,
Toni

Check out Enjet Media's site to see a beautiful video of Nemberala.
